Horse racing has become a very popular type of sport because it involves a large space and it is a place where many people come together to shout and be thrilled to no end. To the casual eye, a horse is a horse and a race is a race. What they don't see is that horse racing is actually a composition of different types of races.

Here are some of the races :

Harness Racing. In this type of race, the horses pull a two wheeled cart with a jockey on it. This type of race is an adaptation of the chariot races held way back in the days of Egypt. The horses here must follow a specific type of run and cannot go out of sync with that run. This type of sport needs more strategy on the side of the trainer and jockey. Brute strength is not needed here as much as the other races. It is here that the owners race intelligently.

Thoroughbred Racing. In this type of race, speed and brute muscles are the things that would carry the race on. Horses that race here are considered best of the best and people that watch it expect the best in horse flesh and the best entertainment. Since it is a huge sport, large amounts of cash a re traded here and they can go on all day as long as the races continue.

Within the races there are sub races as well. These sub races are there for players and bettors to gauge their horses well in the race. Those horses that cannot seem to be measured in terms of their abilities are raced here. It is here that race administrators and moderators even out the odds and assign horses to race against other horses. They are the final word on what horses race where. They are supposed to be impartial because they are matching the horses with the race.

The Graded Stakes race is a variety of the horse racing that involves the finest and high bred horses and high stakes prizes. It the creme de la creme of races and a lot of people watch them and bet heavily. It is one of the few races that occur within a year and is very highly anticipated.
